Why Women’s Heart Health Matters

Our foundation is building a future where every woman understands and protects her heart health.

When you talk to Alvarez about the reason for launching the Foundation in the first place, her passion will become obvious immediately.  She will tell you straight away that women are DYING needlessly from conditions that can be wholly prevented!  How any of us with heart disease will now say “If I had only known earlier?  I would have done so many things differently.”  That woman is our target.  or at least her younger self.

For too long, women’s heart symptoms have been dismissed. Because heart disease can look different in women than in men, many go undiagnosed. Founded by Dr. Alvarez, a passionate cardiologist, our foundation was created to confront this crisis head-on.

Heart disease claims the life of 1 in 5 women every year.

This graphic highlights the urgent need for women’s heart health awareness, visually representing the statistic that heart disease claims the life of 1 in 5 women annually. By featuring a diverse group with one faded silhouette, the image underscores that this silent epidemic is 80% preventable through education and early detection. As a core visual for the Foundation for Women’s Hearts, Inc., it drives engagement for cardiovascular disease prevention and the mission to eliminate healthcare disparities

80% of these cardiac events are preventable with education and early detection

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English.

We fight for gender-specific research and better representation in cardiology
